So I shared the idea of doing 100 short form videos to discover just how the journey goes to gain viewers, online fame and riches.

As the title suggests, it’s been a steep learning curve, even as a person who’s previously had the success and joys of gaining millions of views! True story.

What’s been particularly on my radar this past week though? Campaigns don’t fix everything, advertisers will throw money at what’s really getting attention, and LinkedIn ads are going to get a bit funky… not in a great way.

So are you all bored to death about hearing about this Snoop Dogg and Solo Stove marketing campaign? It’s dominated your social feeds, and likely come up at work through your colleagues too, and your boss has probably told you they’d never manage to make the same mistake…

But, what do I think is a key lesson from it all? No, it’s not some epiphany about influencers or big budgets. What really mattered was the complete lack of follow-up. One big flash in the pan isn’t going to move the needle on many things, especially in the long run. So come on marketers, think about how you can really build upon a campaign over the next 12 months, rather than 12 days.
